Upper division classes challenge emerging artists with the increased rigors of classical Vaganova training, emphasizing turnout, flexibility, strength, coordination, musicality and pointe work for the female students and aerial work for the young men.
Upper Division dancers are invited to join the Classical Ballet Theatre's Junior and Senior Company. Classical Ballet Theatre Academy Upper Division students train at some of the most prestigious summer programs in the country.
Intermediate
Basic pointe work is emphasized in each class as students continue to focus on placement, strength, flexibility, aplomb and artistry.
Advanced
Pointe work and technical challenges increase. Advanced students are allowed and encouraged to take unlimited classes above and beyond those required at their level.
Pre-Professional Program
This timed release program, approved for early release by Fairfax County and Loudon County, offers intensive daily training to exceptional high school aged emerging artists. Artistry, virtuosity, technical skill and an understanding of the classical repertoire is emphasized. These young artists perform the leading roles in all of the Classical Ballet Theatre productions and Outreach performances. |
Junior and Senior Company Class
The Classical Ballet Theatre Company Classes are composed of dancers from the Pinky/Cavalier and Upper Division. Placement is made by the Artistic Staff.
Pas de Deux
Select dancers will learn the basic vocabulary and techniques of dancing with male/female partners. This class is by invitation only.Jazz
Classical, funk, lyrical and Broadway style jazz taught at the Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Performance presentations are at the end of the year.Modern
Classical, Horton, Graham and Limon style modern taught at the Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Performance presentations are at the end of the year.
Private Lessons
Private lessons with individual faculty members may be arranged through the Administrative Office.
